day twenty

In preparation for our kids' birthdays, my best friend Michelle and I are teaching ourselves how to make, roll, and decorate using fondant and gum paste.  Today was our first lesson (who needs you, Wilton!), and for complete fondant newbies, I am rather impressed.  Plus, since it was marshmallow-based, it was pretty damn tasty as well.

Using kit lens 18-55mm at 18mm, manual mode, f/3.5, shutter speed 1/100 sec, ISO 800

This is my first food photograph, unfortunately in evening, artificial lighting again due to the timing of the cake decorating.  One thing I like about photographing food... it doesn't move, squint, and try to smudge my lens.  Oh, and it is filled with tasty Nutella buttercream.
