day eleven

So, I'm not really liking shutter priority mode.  I don't like losing control of my aperture settings, and I don't think my photos come out nicely, at all.  So, on to manual mode - which is part two of the online course I mentioned anyway.

I finally got to fiddle around with all of my settings to see how they affected the exposure meter, and  even though Liam was a bit active today, I really like this shot I snapped of him.

Using kit lens 18-55mm at 18mm, manual mode, f/3.5, shutter speed 1/25 sec, ISO 200

Aperture was my priority, and I adjusted my shutter speed until my camera deemed it to be correct exposure.  My only complaint is that it seems like my focus centered on Liam's left ear instead of his eyes.  Why is this?  One, he moves.  A lot.  Two, I'm still focusing manually.  Yes, I need to read my book on how to use auto focus.  I'll try and get to that this week - baby steps!
